“ We dined in at Amen cafe for Lunch. It’s a cozy place with great ambiance, amazing food and wonderful people. The host was very warm and welcome. We ordered Lentil sambusa, Doro Wat and Veggie combo. The lentil sambusa was crispy and delicious. Every single dish in the veggie combo was great. But the star of the day was the doro wat. Injera was so fresh. The whole experience was wonderful. We have had Ethiopian food at multiple restaurants in the US, this place is definitely one of best. Will definitely be returning to this place. Would definitely love it, if they had meat combo because for anybody who is trying Ethiopian cuisine for the first time, getting to try 2 or 3 options will help them find the ones they like. ”
“ Beautiful restaurant. The best thing about Amen Cafe, is that the food is homemade. Cooked to order, hot, fresh very good food and healthy. I really enjoyed everything thing that I ordered. The vegetarian plate was just so enjoyable. I also loved the salmon. The owners are really nice and personable. We appreciate talking to them as they were very pleasant and welcoming. The Ethiopian coffee was just very tasty and they even made us some popcorn, which was a nice tasty treat. If you are wondering about Ethiopian food, this is a good place to visit. Enjoy! ”
“ Fantastic Ethiopian food. Everything was delicious. We got the sambusas and Veggie Combo #2 and added lamb. Seriously, every single bite was delicious and not too spicy (we asked for mild). And the service was fast and friendly. If you already like Ethiopian food you'll like this place. If you've never tried it, this is the place to start. ”
“ I truly enjoyed my experience first time eating Ethiopian cuisine I've very impressed with the robust flavor. I had the lamb stew. With the bread it like kinda bitter bread but it balances the flavor the hot sauce for be made the spices and herbs explode with delight for me. I also had a lemonade. Very great customer service I'll come again. Great experience Amen ”
“ This was my first visit to this new Cafe, and it certainly won’t be my last. First thing we were greeted with was a very friendly staff with big smiles, enthusiasm, and a welcoming demeanor. We ordered a veggie combo with 6 different choices and the Ybeg Tibs and Doro Wat. The food was flavorful, tender and generous with plenty of injera to enjoy. I also enjoyed the glass serving bottles of fresh, cold water supplied to the table. The restaurant was very clean, and proudly displayed a health department 100 score. The food came out quickly as well. We will be definitely be returning! ”
“ After moving back from DC with a big Ethiopian population and a ton of restaurants I had to find a restaurant here in San Antonio and Amen Cafe did not disappoint!! I ordered the sambuusas, veggie combo, and beef tibs for a group of 4 and it definitely served us well. The food was delicious and the staff were all so nice, we’ll be back for sure! ”
“ You’re Not Eating at Amen Cafe, What Are You Even Doing With Your Taste Buds? Having circled the globe—living everywhere from the spice markets of the Middle East to the beachside grills of the Caribbean, and from the chic cafés of Western Europe to just about every corner of the U.S.—I thought I’d seen (and eaten) it all. That is, until I stepped into Amen Cafe. This little gem of a spot didn’t just feed me. It converted me. The food? Absolute flavor bombs. Rich, aromatic, soulful dishes that hit you with just the right amount of spice and then gently whisper, “You thought you knew flavor, didn’t you?” Before this, my experience with African cuisine was… let’s say “an unseasoned appetizer.” But Amen Cafe opened the floodgates, and now I want to embark on an edible safari across the entire continent. The staff? Warm and welcoming like old friends who also happen to cook better than your grandma. The vibe? Like being wrapped in a spicy, savory hug. If I could give them more than five stars, I’d ask for six and sprinkle berbere on top. Seriously, go—your mouth will thank you, your soul will nod in approval, and your stomach will probably try to hug you from the inside. ”
“ I recently hosted my son's baptism at Amen Cafe Eritrean And Ethiopian Restaurant, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the service we received! From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. They went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect for our special day. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a wonderful setting for our family and friends. The food was delicious, with a great variety that catered to all tastes. Many of our guests complimented the quality and presentation of the dishes. What truly stood out was the attention to detail and the personal touches that made the day even more memorable. The staff was always available to help, and their genuine care made all the difference. I highly recommend Amen Cafe for any special occasion. Thank you for helping to create such a beautiful memory for our family! ”
